Resin Jewellery Starter Pack

This past week, we have been playing around with Resin.

I bought a starter pack before christmas, it is only a small one with UV Resin in it which is not supposed to be as dangerous as proper Resin that you mix. I did a lot of research on the different resins and ended up with UV Resin. All the safety precautions you should have applies to all Resins, mask, glasses and gloves and of course the area you work in must be aired.

So, what did we make?

Day 1

• Mess 1 - couldn't get the bubbles out they just kept appearing - worked out there was far too much resin in the pendant and bubbles were coming in from the edges
• Mess 2 - added paper picture, no good - printed on paper, resin soaked in and ruined the image
• Mess 3 - printed the image on photo paper, added Mod Podge to the back, no good

We were trying all day to produce a great piece of resin jewellery, no luck, will try again tomorrow, what I have in mind if I can do it is a really special piece of jewellery, wish me luck.

Day 2

Tried again today over and over, we just have to keep trying until it works, may take some time, thought it would be sorted out today but no, keep on trying.

• Mess 4 - sprayed acrylic laquer on front and back of the picture and added a black sharpie to get rid of the white edges which worked good
• Mess 5 - I have overfilled the pendant again, bubbles coming in from the edge, I do keep using a little flame to burst the bubbles but when I'm not looking they sneak back 

Will work on these pendants again tomorrow and hopefully I'll get it right.
